The following extract is from Clicker 101. This DVD is a few years old now and filmed in digital 4:3 but it remains an excellent teaching guide to introducing the clicker to your horse (hint: press zoom on your TV remote & you wont have the black lines). The DVD shows how a number of horses began clicker training and demonstrates charging the clicker; targeting; teaching head down & duration; the beginning of following your lead & getting your horses attention & introducing scary objects.
A word about scary objects though - if your horse is truly afraid of the object or situation please have a look at Constructive Approach Training for Horses (CAT-H) which teaches our horse how to handle its emotions in a safe way before we introduce scary objects - with CAT-H we remain below the horses anxiety levels at all times
