So sad. Her later pictures seemed to dwell on aging, something Vivien Leigh did not handle well. Most beautiful women have difficulty aging gracefully especially ones whose careers dependon staying attractive.
i have been wondering why the main title music by richard addinsell was only one track john barry arranged and recorded.as soundtrack title, original recording is perfectly worthwhile to listen and listen again.
@Jewel3636 That's Lotte Lenya. You're correct, she did play a villain in the early Bond movies. She was also a cabaret star and great interpreter of her husband Kurt Weill's work.
This film is a masterpiece, full of tragic, sad beauty. It is also my favorite Vivien Leigh performance, even with the possible exception of her incomparable Scarlett. She really is majestic and heartbreaking to watch.
"Three or four years is all I need. After that, a cut throat would be a convenience".
The music is terrific, too.
The remake with Helen Mirren and that little French boy was a cheap, fake sham.
what a torture YOU TUB is becoming and still the the monthly pay is high enough to a film ;it is painfully slow what can you do tor better quality otherwise there is no meaning at all ;to go on

This always makes me think back again: "what's the point of it all?"

The red headed woman who comes
to visit Mrs.Stone in Italy looks like a
woman who played a villian in the early
James Bond movies.
