Chateau La Tour de Chollet - harvest machine

The harvest machine is an essential piece of kit for us at harvest time because we simply do not have the manpower to be able to harvest all of our grapes by hand. The mechanics of the machine is that it straddles the vine and has 4 rubber tubes which vibrate the grapes off. You can see from the picture below on the right that it is only the stem that is left.
Harvest machines do receive some bad press because they 'pick' every grape with no regard for its quality, we negate this by going through the vines 3 or 4 times before the harvest and manually remove any grapes which we do not want harvested.
