This video highlights the pressures on London Ambulance Service staff during the Christmas party season.
It shows scenes from our alternative patient transport vehicle, known as the 'booze bus', which we use in the West End of London. It responds to patients who have become ill through drinking too much or who have been injured because they are under the influence of alcohol.
Alcohol-related calls now make up over six per cent of our workload. They place our staff under additional pressure and make it harder to reach other patients whose need may be more urgent.
We'd like people to have a good time this Christmas, but not on us.
More information about the effects of alcohol-related calls on our service can be found at http://www.londonambulance.nhs.uk/alcohol.
