Several examples are shown of how to solve exponential or logarithmic equations. When the x is stuck in the exponent you need to take the log (or ln) of both sides. When the x is stuck in the log, you need to exponentiate both sides b to the power of (____) where b is whatever the base of the log is to make it easier. This works because exponential functions are inverses of logarithms and vice versa, and it has the same effect as adding 5 after subtracting 5. Part 2 has compound interest story problems that include applying our new found talent of solving exponential equations. I didn't quite get to the answer of the last problem before spitting out the answer (it's approximately 22.4 years).

  • dbraz RULES!!

  • @mpeters11235813 Thanks Matt. I've always loved that nickname.

  • makes me want to take online classes instead of go to school.

  • @w0wage I'm so glad you found it helpful. I'm a firm believer that online is great, but that it can't supplement the great conversations and explanations that my students have in school with peers as they struggle through the material together and find success. Good luck as you continue studying logarithms.

  • I cant believe you're more helpful than my Math Teacher in class. Thankyou SO much, keep making video's. It has helped so much. :)

  • @0KILLuminati You are quite welcome! I'm glad you've found the videos helpful. Continue asking questions in class though. I'm a teacher as well and we want to help.

  • you have no idea it confuses everyone in my class

  • @XrushzealX Sorry it didn't make any sense to you. Could you tell me specifically where I lost you, and maybe I could help?
