Dr. Sagan takes viewers on a tour of the red planet first through the eyes of science fiction authors, and then through the unblinking eyes of two Viking spacecrafts that have sent thousands of pictures of the stunning Martian landscape back to Earth since 1976. Though based on older Mars missions, Sagan's analysis still holds true.

That's the basic idea behind Terraforming, but it would take a helluva lot of plant life and a lot longer than a few generations. You also have to keep in mind that Mars has no liquid water, and also no magnetic field (Which is what keep us from getting fried by solar radiation).

he said that mars is made up mostly of hydrogen. so if we brought plant life from earth over a few generations would'nt mars develop an atmosphere of oxygen like ours?!?!
