One of the bigger interplanetary spectacles of the 50s, and one of the last films shot in 3-strip Technicolor, Universal's "Supreme Excitement of Our Time" brought out the sense of wonder in a generation of cold war tykes while scaring them half to death with the unlikely but cool "Mutants": "similar to the insect life on your own planet, but larger of course."

  • Alternate title: "This Island Mirth". Considered the "Starship Troopers" of its day. Goofy and fun; who didn't like Faith Domergue?

  • @TheClam88 We'' agree to differ on this

  • @Numinous20111 better than forbidden planet-much better.

  • Faith Domergue looked hot in the skirts and dresses. The space suit does nothing for her butt.

  • It's unfortunate that this film wasn't made more in the style of 'Forbidden Planet'. While it's colorful, it's just a pulp story with B-movie treatment. I don' feel the same kind of nostalgia with this as I do for 'The Day The Earth Stood Still' and it's not as impressive in production therms as 'F.Planet'.

  • It's OKay. I don't know if was worth 2.5 years in the making. Plus the Earth guy's head's as big as the alien's head.
