Soundtrack is "Uccen (The Wolf)" by the Taalbi Brothers. This short workout is a 30sec work / 10sec rest combination of lateral ski hops, ski tuck hold and carve, stabilize and press with the slosh pipe and 24kg kettlebell swings. It's for ski conditioning as well as experimenting and having some fun.
Being in the skis and boots made the press and swings awkward -- nice to introduce an odd variable. The slosh pipe is filled with water, but not fully ... so it's more about stabilizing the constantly shifting water (working the core) than about the weight of the press. Wearing skis on the jumps? It adds weight, increases the coordination required & requires you to weight the front of the ski. It simulates movements skiers encounter, particularly off-piste/backcountry, when I use the skis for what they were designed for. The full version of this workout is 5 rounds of 1-min stations ... and it's a grind. Hit the mountains though for some ski mountaineering and you'll believe in the value of the training. And it's just plain fun to have an odd session like this occasionally.

Overhead swings are useless

@SShaf Would you mind elaborating and also putting it in the context of the physiological demands in ski mountaineering and cross-country skate skiing (the desired training target in this workout)? I assume that you are experienced with each and not just commenting based on a pure strength goal, which is only a secondary target.

Does he even ski?
GrixxlyStrength 2 months ago
@GrixxlyStrength Yes. I ski downhill and cross-country and also do ski mountaineering (ski up and down a mountain). The rest of the year I do ultra marathon running, mountain running and cycling. If you are not a skier, especially in the backcountry, I don't imagine that you'd relate to the desired training outcomes from this video and if you're passion is solely strength training, it's just something completely different and not an attempt at the same pursuit.

@HillseekerFitness
My question i had while watching this video was, do Olympic Skiers train like this? I'd imagine spending more time on the slopes would be more beneficial.
GrixxlyStrength 2 months ago
@GrixxlyStrength Here's a taste of the training from the reigning World Cup and Super G champion (search "EzCbfeeZPf0" in Youtube) No doubt that you need time on the snow, but it also takes time in the gym. My training video was pre-season ... now that we have sufficient snow in the Alps, the dryland training fades away & it's snow time! In addition, I train for ski mountaineering racing, which involves skiing both up & down the mountain (diff training reqs).
