i love iron dukes, they are dogs but they are probably the most reliable bottom-end gm ever made...

you can start a 3800 this way only if its an older carbureted one. if it is a newer fuel injected one,... tho it can be done,... it is way more complex to rig it to run than ignition, starter, and gas in the bowl.

I bought a 1985 "iron duke" firebird, the thing hadn't been started in over 8 years.
Tried it the other day, started second try and ran just fine with 8 year old fuel.
Hardy little engines!
Did drain the tank after and I don't know how it ran, had more rust than gas in there!!

Actually, its quite not bullshit. The time before this cranking, it popped over a few times and i yanked the ignition because it doused me with engine oil (see oil dry on the ground at my feet) I put a pipe plug in the open oil galley and started it and thats what you see, after i changed my shorts of course.
