  • Hello, idiot (aka GuyTooShy). I just saw Springsteen in concert a few weeks ago. They guy obviously works out. He's in terrific shape and has amazing stamina. He was all over the place like a 20 yo, and performed for almost 3 hours without a break. As for him retiring before it's too late, when would that be? All his concerts are sell-outs, so as long as he enjoys what he's doing -- and obviously he does -- it would make no sense for him to quit. Legends don't need to quit.

  • Ticket sales, TV broadcast rights, donations, etc.

Don't worry, while the Kennedy Center gets government funds for the upkeep of the building itself, your precious 0.02 cents don't go to fund performances like this.

Funny how when W, Bush Sr., and Reagan were Presidents at the Kennedy Center Honors, no one seemed to ask the same question.

  • @GuyTooShy

Why is it a "young man's game"?

Seriously, if you don't think Bruce, Stones, Who or any of the greatest rockers of all time should keep on doing what they do, then your not much of a rock-fan, are you?

  • @GuyTooShy Wow. You obviously don't know a thing about rock n' roll. Asshole.

  • could we possibly have some more advertising please. What a screwy culture.

  • ONE DAY, I am going to HUNT down the guy pn that awfujl commercial that was on before the video. It could have been used in the interrogation rooms over and over like Japanese water torture or something. Abu Ghraib? AAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Between that Fedex commercial and the Geico ones on TV, ("Does Elmer Fudd have trouble with the letter 'R'"?) I'm considering an Amish lifestyle just to save my own brain cells! DAMN, Enough is Enough!!

  • Why wouldn't Sting play bass... i think it adds to the performance

  • @bris2world. Yes STING is soooo great that only he can handle the bass part for this song.=) Cmon. Its his niche. Its what hes know for. He sings and plays the bass. Not many front men out there that are cabable of doing that. But I understand where your coming from.

  • Why the hell does Sting have to play the bass on this? Yeh we all know he can play the bass, but doesnt the house band have a perfectly decent bass player? Is Sting soooo great that only he can handle the bass part for this? Seems like a bit of a wank to me.

  • As good as Springsteens tribute was, I thought the segment on Dave Brubeck was the one that really knocked it out of the park. And will someone please tell me who the hell let Aretha come out on stage in that god awful get-up and ridiculous hair-do! I love and cherish you Aretha but FIRE your dresser. You deserved better!.

  • :22, Its General Sherman lol

  • When CBS broadcasted it, they must have cut back on the auto-tune, because on the last note he starts one note and slides up the next note. On this youtube version, you can hear the auto-tune half stepping the slide (in fact, there isn't even slide on this version!). If you can find the broadcast version, listen to the last note and you'll see what i mean.

I got goosebumps when I heard this version on TV, but I'm totally bummed to discover that they put auto-tune on Sting's voice..
