On October 30, seven intrepid champions of the Leadership for Conservation in Africa (www.lcafrica.org) embarked upon an epic journey to the heart of darkest Africa to accomplish three things:
- Find the landing strip in the African jungle
- Arrange with the Congolese government a way forward to save and promote the Odzala National Park in the Republic of the Congo. (From wikipedia: "Founded in 1935, the park now covers 13,600 km2. It is known as 'one of the most important strongholds for forest elephant and western gorilla conservation remaining in Central Africa'." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odzala_National_Park)
- Have a good time.
We're proud to report success in all departments!
On the trip:
Chris Chameleon, Chris Marais, Sabine Plattner, Patrick Couzinet, Andrew Johnson, Tina Plattner, and Astrid Schimmelpenninck
