QRZ met up with Doug Hendricks, KI6DS at Ft. Tuthill this year to talk about his new PFR-3 QRP Transciever. For product info, see http://www.qrpkits.com
Well, I ordered the radio 4 months ago and had it built in two days. I also have a Kenwood TS-530, which is now semi retired, as the PFR3A radio has become my main rig to use, both indoors and out in the field. It is truly a remarkable radio that's rugged, easy to use and fun to run. I have designed a set of real small paddles, much smaller than the Widow Paddles presently offered, that plug right into the radio and can stay on indefinately or be removed for use with my straight key.
I'd buy one at the $200 price tag quoted by Doug in this video, but every time I go to the Web site to order, the price has gone up again. That $200 was two price increases ago. For another $50, I bought the KX-1.
Well Doug, you sold me! I ordered one today [12 Apr '10; PFR-3A $225 & paddle $40 plus $20 shipping and handling] via PayPal and look forward to building and documenting the building process and use of the completed radio for YouTube viewers! 73 de Lynn, NG9D . .

Actually mic'ing the subject is an improvement; turning off the built in mic would be the next step.
