What a player. DIrt poor Mexican from East Dallas creates his own swing to beat everybody, including Jack Nicklaus in the U.S. Open.

The thing i don't understand is that he was sucessful hitting wedge shots and taking big divots but then you watch Tiger and he had really small divots now because they say in order to control distance properly you need smaller divots. So whats better small divot or large divot? Is it personal preference?

Hitting down reduce's loft, that is correct, should be approx 5 degrees (hand's ahead of the ball). Reduce's spin? Spin is controlled by how hard you hit down. Jack had no idea how to hit a fade? Long iron, open stance, club open to stance, alway's work's for me. Sure you can swing outside-in for more of fade/slice. He simply demonstrated a baby fade. You may do thing's another way but I found the comment's pretty accurate. Pretty bold to discount 2 great player's is my point.

And how many of those so called "top coaches" have won a British Open, or the PGA or a US Open as Mr. Trevino has??

Those that know how to .... DO

Those who do not know how to....Coach

Lee Trevino WISHES this video was NEVER MADE!!! He obviously had no conscious idea what he was doing. Hitting DOWN on a golf ball reduces the dynamic loft on a shot and thusly reduces spin. It's ok Lee, Jack Nicklaus had no idea either (just watch Golf My Way on how to hit a fade, Jack OPENS the clubface in relation to the target...NO NO NO!!)). But these guys sure could get it around a golf course!!

I don't think he said not to use bounce, just don't INCREASE it by flipping with the hands. Think about it, if you flip you increase the bounce, and the club will BOUNCE off the turf and the leading edge will skull the ball. Now that's on tight lies. Sand, rough etc., when you open the clubface you obviously increase the bounce so that the weight of the club will get under and THROUGH the deep rough and/or sand. At least that's how I interpret Lee.

yes "feel" is not always "real" in golf. Lee was totally self taught during a time when super high speed video was not available. He "felt" that the ball ran "up the face". I would in a heartbeat , throw away "real" if Lee would give me his "feel" :)
