As with everything there are people for and people against. Makes me laugh that people care so much as to start immature rants. No matter who your government is in any society, the regular people don't matter a damn. Whether you have a Queen, President, Prime Minister - it's all irrelevant . No one has a real say in how their country is run, you may vote someone in from a very select group of people, but once in power they will still do what they want.

@sweiland75 - Don't be so bloody rude. As for proof, we are talking in the theoretical, so why don't you show me proof that it won't happen... And besides, the USA has a long history of gobbling up other countries and provinces/states/regions - California, Texas, all of New France below the 49th parallel, Puerto Rico, etc., and there are always people from the US talking about seizing parts of Canada. Alberta would just be the most logical first step & plenty to dig up up north.

@sweiland75 - Giving up the monarchy that underpins the political fabric of the country and acts as a bulwark against the unthinkable, do you want to get rid of the French as well? If so, why not just join with the USA? And you better believe that they will gobble up provinces like Alberta straight away! ... and next... Ontario and those Northwest Territories and the Yukon, Nunavut too...! :(
