@Jagguar20 No they are taught to. Shoot them till they drop to temporally disable them, then shoot them twice in the head to ensure they are dead. But some highly trained troops, like SEALs and SAS aim for the head in the first place. Most other infantry aims for the center mass of the body.

no, they're not taught to empty their mag on 1 guy, imagine how fast they would run out of ammo...also, you have no idea how many insurgents there are, so you cant really waste all your ammo on 1 or 2 guys. that's why they have "double tap" two shots to the head after their down pretty much guarantees a dead terrorist.

Me personally would unload a full mag to make sure my target dies and i don't.

@Mrain56 Not completely sure about this but I remember reading that most of the special ops forces (Rangers, british SAS, etc) are taught to unload almost full magazines into their targets to guarantee they are dead.
