I think he says it's more comfortable to play.

Bigger body= fuller sound, also easier to sit on lap. I was talking to him when he came through my town and he mentioned how much he was sick of people calling it a guitar.

Though Andy Irvine is a fine musician, I would be hesitant to disregard the performance of another musician without having heard it. Certainly, there is the possibility that the young lady is not just a "daddy's little girl," but is instead making an objective statement of her opinion.

Thanks. This video was taken on the 20th of May '06 at the Mandoline Festival in Varazze, Italy.
As to the wherebouts of his hair... who knows, some Delilah type woman might've got to him?
