binaural technique requires expensive kit and mathematical algorythms.....i imagine you must have heard the virtual barbershop its on my page and more......google cetera algorythm for a better explanation than i can give...
Tacsmoker - maybe you use 'mathematical algorithms' but you dont need to !!! You just need small microphones in the ears of a dummy head. Or in your own ears. The distance apart is crucial, with something fairly solid in between.
I will try to explain how you can understand which is holophonic or binaural; if you make a line with matches (or smilar things) in front of the artificial head, if you perceive linear line is holophonic. If it becomes bent to the back of left and right sound area is binaural. Best wishes...

If you look down the Related Videos (on the right here) you will find other systems like SP-TFB-2.
Or try Googling "Binaural microphone"..... though some cost over £1000.... LOL
Can plug in to a PC if it has a stereo sound input. Good luck.
Obviously not super high quality... But its still possible
You'll find other sites to help you :)
