On July 12 2006 Hezbollah captured two Israeli soldiers in a cross-border raid which triggered a massive Israeli bombardment and incursion.
Despite the death of as many as 1,200 Lebanese and 160 Israelis, mostly soldiers, Israel failed to win the freedom of its soldiers.
The story of the negotiations and exchanges between Israel and Hezballah has been one of a high-stakes game of tough and tortuous bargaining between deadly foes over prisoners and corpses. It reveals an intriguing insight into the shadowy world of deals amid conflict.
al jazeera forgets the constant infilitrations, attacks and provocation made by hezbollah between 2000-2006
this kidnapping was the last straw, after the war, no infiltrations, no attacks just calm on the border

@nimsupreme Gilad Shalit, a soldier captured a few months before the war. He's still being held in Gaza as of June 2011.

@joshsgl animals, this is your way of calling someone who has a different view of yours? don't you have something better to tell them if you think you are so right about Israel? Since you are right give the palestinians and the rest of the world a valuable reason to slaughter humans and take over their homes.. and call them animals.

@abbesieyes Sorry, I have to explain. The whole thing that kicked off the recent Roman fifth column attack on No. Africa.

2006, Only a "recce in force" by former managers of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem in Tel Aviv, backed by a former jesuit of the short robe.
The Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem needs the watershed of the Lebanon. With the Papal fifth columns rolling up civil govt across No. Africa...'Israel' has a free hand.

Funny, the whole thing that kicked this off was Mubarraks generals letting the US DASD (an RC and pro fessor of Jesuit Georgetown U.) know that they were fully aware of DC's skewing of the balance of power etstablished by the Camp David accords (which Egypt dutifully maintained for 30 years) at a ratio of 2/3 in favor of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem, to 2/5 in their favor.
Within a few months, Mubarraks security team was 'pulled'...bye bye Mubarrak.
