It had NOTHING to do with his family, who have freeloaded off of him his entire life and still continue to do so after his death. Joe was a horrible father to his kids and a horrible husband. Of course, Michael loved his father, as all children do. But that still doesn't mean he liked his dad. It is an insult to Michael to say that his success was due to Joe beating him up beside the head. His talent was God given.
