@harleykman steel shortage. bad economy. everyone good left. actually germany had experience with two stroke engine be4 the war. DKW comes to mind. if you squint you can make out the dkw junior almost. a west german design. made in same factory. zwickau germany. that is what they had. that is what they built. air cooled just like bug. fwd for handling and room and whatnot. four seats, two doors. very simple car.
