What a difficult ride that Johnny Murtagh had on Changingoftheguard in this race. There's no question that he was much the best horse in the race on this day. If Murtagh could've gotten Changingoftheguard into the clear just a split second sooner, he win's this race, IMO.
look at the run nanton got, and how easily he won at doncaster off 5lb's higher next time. And you'll realise that he was probably the biggest hard luck story.
Had murtagh got the horse up people would be saying it was a cracking ride...and how well he did from a bad position....the man had no room and he did very well to engineer the gaps that he did...i thought he was simply unlucky...
i was on changingoftheguard here at 3/1. any o brien runner in the ebor is always worth a second look. it was definetely a certainty beaten and would have won by half the track had murtagh secured any sort of a clear run. falling out of the stalls cost him victory as he could not take up a good position. sadly we wont see this horse again in a handicap and the chance to exploit a very very favourable handicap mark has long gone.
I love Nanton

Changing of the Guard will win the St.Leger tomorrow. Although it's only 3/1 now, it's still worth backing.
