PANEL I: EDUCATION POLICY
Senator M. Teresa Ruiz is serving her first term in the New Jersey State
Senate, representing the 29th Legislative District, which includes the Union
County Township of Hillside, and parts of the City of Newark in Essex County.
She is the first Latina to serve in the State Senate. Assistant Majority Leader and Senate Education Committee Chair.
Shavar Jeffries is an Associate Professor of Law at Seton Hall Law School and
is the President of the Newark Public Schools Advisory Board.
