2011-Nov-06 Shibuya Taikai (Akita vs Okumura)

Akita san (5th dan) disarms this opponent's shinai, and later smoothly forces his opponent out of the shiaijo. Very stylish match where he wins the match. Also watch the female audience's facial expression. A clip worth watching over and over.

  • @BluePenMagic Yeah, that's a rough explanation.

  • @HayashiKensei So they penalized him for not griping his weapon correctly, right?

It was also an impressive move by the disarmer, the reflexes he displayed are very impressive.

  • @BluePenMagic When the flags are about 45 degrees from the floor to the horizontal but still below the hips like in this case, it means that the senshu has a hansoku, or a foul. When the flag is raised above the head at about a 45 degree angle it means that the shinpan thinks there is a point.

  • Why did they give the point to white? It was him who lost grip of the weapon.
