Slatington, PA - 12:14PM - Slatington and Walnutport (24 & 29) were dispatched to a house fire at 562 W. Franklin Street. Ladder 24 arrives on scene first and has heavy smoke and fire from a 2.5 story duplex. Both homes (560 - 562) have heavy fire at the front of the building.

Engine 29 (Walnutport) arrives second behind the ladder and Deputy 29 (Wentz) has 30 feet flames. His crew comes right in and backs-up Ladder 24 which is a quint and they lead off with the heaviest hand lines.

The second alarm was transmitted upon arrival. Engine 16 (Neffs) brings a second supply line in from Washington St.

As the fire threatens the duplex on the Delta side, a third alarm is transmitted at 12:30. The fire extended into that duplex via the attic. Crews from Lehigh Twp. 47 went to the roof and vented 454 and 456 while 3 handlines were stretched into 456 and one line into 454. The crews here contained the fire to the attics of both homes.

Crews from three counties (Lehigh, Northampton, Carbon) help battle the blaze. R.I.T. was assigned to two companies - 11 (Greenawalds) and 2 (Catasauqua) with their rescues.

Lehigh companies assisting at the scene were 29, 16, 6, 22, 10, 5, 2, 11. Carbon companies 7 and 1. Northampton County 47. I apologize if I missed anyone.

The fire was under control by 14:00 hours.

  • looked like a tough fire great work and great radio communication and a smokey bitch at that stay safe brothers

  • i live up the street from there haha way to go walnutport station 29 and slatington and that sucked bad --- it is almost a year later and they didnt even pour the foundation yet or finish the siding job on the other 2 houses

  • Turn of 20 th century ballon frame construction, very hazardous. Nice containment.

  • Damn, What a mess of wires everywhere. Hard to use the ladder trucks in that mess

  • @5959frankthetank Ignore what it looks like in the footage and take it from someone who was actually there. It was definitely a 3 alarm fire.

  • @5959frankthetank I'll say this as nicely as I can. You're an idiot!! You have negative comments on several vids yet you post no vids yourself. and if you knew anything about firefighting you'd know that a third alarm on a fire like this is fairly normal. And the mutual aid ladder a half hour late? Were you listening to any of the radio transmissions dork? Heavy traffic was holding up responding units. Best thing for you to do from now on is shut up. Nice work firefighters!

  • OMG men look at that dammage to the house that gonna cost some money to fix nice video btw

  • I guess they cannot use the ladder truck , too many wires.

  • 3 alarms ,come on you got to be kidding!!!

  • thats nice the ladder truck is only a half hour late !!!!
