I'm actually from western North Carolina, but my college set up a gamelan program, and I just thought it was cool so I joined. It was a break from my "Western-style" music for a change--I play flute as well, although not in gamelan.

Oh, and I'm female. ^_~

Wow. Your playing is great! I just started in the gamelan at my college -- so far I've only played the saron, but I still love it.

Oh, and I've never seen anyone use a metal flute before in a gamelan (but then again I haven't seen much gamelan, so there you go) but it really does sound nice. Thanks for sharing!

I love your enthusiasm- it makes for an engaging performance. Awesome staccato percussive notes on the flute in time with the gamelans-- shows communication between the musicians! I would love to see a concert-- alas, I live in Oklahoma. Do you ever come to Kansas City?
