I wish he'd stayed with his hippie-dippie weatherman and the dog licking its balls- type jokes, instead of just bitching about religion and saying how reasonable he was. He was lacking varirty toward the end. If he had a hang-up, he could have talked about it. We all would have understood.

My heart was broken when I saw Dennis Miller say to someone whod sent a letter disrespecting George things other than insults, shooting them down. thats how id react. theyd commented on how carlin was mostly not funny on an interview between the two that i loved, and he was. but miller concurred. i just hope he didnt agree in general
Alot of the greatest actors sucked at school. Get F's kids-you'll go places!

@ccipollini1984 1984 Education and knowledge are great things, I just don't like this whole "You won't succeed unless you get a degree" attitude that most schools force onto kids. I think expression is more important than making bank. And he sure did express himself. Thanks for viewing!

What you find with people who have that level of hostility toward something (in this case, religion), is that it's about rebellion rather than simply facts. If certain people you hate try to impose their will on you, everything they stand for is automatically bullshit. Carlin didn't seem to so much hate religion - he hated religious hypocrites imposing their will on him. It's not so much the doctrine, but the people who claim to subscribe to that doctrine that cause the hostility.

@surfer53 In his childhood, Carlin saw the ugliness that religion partly caused and he didn't want to be a part of that hypocrisy, he knew he didn't belong there. So he moved away from religion.
