Very interesting! I am a musician and an atheist, but I agree that music should bring out the best in us, not the worst. I don't believe music makes us bad people, but helps bad people do bad things.

Great speech! I love music but I don't worship music. I worship Allah. Don't use bad language in music! Alhamdulilah.

(1) This is my personal opinion only. If Sami Yusuf produces songs which are of good content and visual substance and you listen with the intention of bringing yourself closer to Allah (swt) then yes. Just ensure, as with all things that are not haram, that you are proportionate in your listening and it does not interfere with your obligations (fara'id).

(2) it is a misconception that a person can tame their lower self (nafs-e-Ammara) in such a way that they move from being in a bad position to suddenly becoming the most righteous person in the world. Some things in life are progressive and require a long and determined journey. If someone listens to filthy music then it can only be good if they discard that music for music which reminds them of Allah (swt) and His Messenger (saw).

(3) From listening to Sami Yusuf an individual might increase their interest in the beautiful religion of Islam and then listen to Nasheeds/Qasa'id and then progress further upwards until they would reach a point whereby they only find interest in that which is most beneficial to one's Iman. I am not saying it is necessary to listen to music but only that one such think more laterally. Again, only my opinion and I may be wrong - May Allah (swt) forgive me should I be wrong.

if you are Sunni my brother then you are Ahmadi. If you convert to a religion outside of Islam and follow something other than the Sunnah then you would not be following the teachings of Islam Ahmadiyya.
