Why do business prefer to hire illegal immigrants?

Briggs says that employers would much prefer an employee that is grateful for minimum wage, and they're typically immigrants. Medina responds that this is the reason reform is needed so that business cannot exploit immigrant workers.

I live in So Ca. Where the the illegal population is the largest in our nation . Rarely do I turn on local news that this is not a issue, freeway chaces etc. Race & the Dodger Stadium attack. When news of the incident broke I was chagrined. Just had to be stupid Mexicans,Latin guys no doubt. Some alcohol,lack of civility,& barrio culture have ruined much of LA. Any time the business community at large gets addicted to cheap overhead costs, the whole society diminishes. Completely. Cheap does nothing but cheapen. And if these people came here for the American dream, then why don't they become taxpayers, put their money in American bank accounts, buy houses, go to school etc... So something is wrong with this picture. All one ethnic group at a work site is just screwed up.  The business community wants first world profit and third world rules.

Illegal immigration has gone overboard by design. Criminalizing Illegals and employers who hire them is making it a crime to act human. Remove minimum wage laws and remove the incentive to hire them, thereby removing the incentive to cross the border. This will only open up more entry level jobs, reducing unemployment, and improving the economy. The wage is determined by market forces and not by employers, not by the government.

Illegal Immigrants are SLAVES for Criminal Businessmen and a method of manipulating labor markets for 20 years. 1990-2005 production labor salaries only increased 3.6% while profits increased 104% and all of this was fueled by businesses not having to compete for LEGAL workers with competitive wages. 1968 Minimum wages would be $21 per hour in 2010 dollars.

If they can work, and also pay taxes,

The problem with giving legal status to the people who are currently here illegally is that once you give them the legal right to be here and legal protections and minimum wage, the businesses aren't going to want to hire them anymore. Businesses will be looking for the next wave of illegals to come in so they can hire them at the same wages they paid the ones who are here illegally now. That's why you can't have "comprehensive reform" until the border is secure first.
