"Why do we Make Short Films"
Originally broadcast by WKAR-TV, on Tuesday, March 20, at 11 p.m., Discovering the Short shows a selection of short films from the 2006 East Lansing Film Festival. Discovering the Short: Films from the 2006 East Lansing Film Festival is produced by MSU students led by former student Randy Flick and faculty member Robert Albers of the MSU Department of Telecommunication, Information Studies, and Media.
The "short film" has long been the point of entry into the art of filmmaking. Each year the East Lansing Film Festival offers local aficionados a chance to view high quality short films made by professionals from all over the country. Discovering the Short Films features six shorts from the 2006 East Lansing Festival, ranging in length from two to 20 minutes, made by artists from as close as Jackson and as far away as Los Angeles.
Viewers also hear commentary and analysis from audience members and several of the directors; filmmaker and MSU Film Professor Jeff Wray; and from Susan Woods, festival director.
