  • I hate it when people like this guy gives bad advice. Do not cover anything. Just clean it and use a pressure washer if you have one. It is imposable to hurt a battery or alternator. Yes if it has a cap, it will need to come off to wipe out the water. No big deal, just a few screws.

All dealerships do it this way all day long. Should not take longer then 5 minutes. Spray it, hose it, slam the hood and drive. It's that simple guys. I've done thousands that way for over thirty years, no problem

  • @Sarstan i was told never to use that around brakes frome so many master ase certified techs because its water based

  • @FARTNOISE100

WD-40, as the name suggests (water displacement), it pushed/removes/blocks water. It is not water based.

  • @yankees33776 wd40 is water based

  • @AudiTTman225 you sir are very right

  • That is not the way to clean an engine. And shauny0208 you are wrong too.

Use high pressure, cover the alternator and dizzy with plastic bag, go light on the electronic components. I even leave the engine running, never ever had any problem ever. And Iv'e detailed cars for car yards, and hundreds of private customers. And it's JAG-U-ARE not JAG-GUIRE spastic.

  • I'm pretty sure ANY vehicle is gonna break down if you get water in it

  • i think what he was trying to say is that the truck is more water tight than the cars because its a truck and its built to take more water but idk

  • @shaunny0208,using proper procedure whilst pressure washing engine and engine bay will save you copious amounts of times using your stupid rag to degrease an engine!

  • @shaunny0208 Pro Detailers spray water on the engine compartment, but you must protect the electrics and other venerable areas. They also use non corrosive degreasers . A rag alone won't get rid off oil... I agree this man doesn't have a clue but it is ok to use a pressure washer/hose if you are careful.
