Hawaiian Sling Freedive Hunting in the Bahamas.

More hunting and swimming and enjoying the environment than killing in this vid...in my opinion the fish kill is the least important part of the experience. It's like the old saying: "Fishin's different that catching."

It's about being out there in the ocean environment and being in the moment.

Nice shark sequence at 0:24 it came in for a close pass and swam off. Lots of sharks in the Bahamas...they're not interested in you...but it isn't a good idea to shoot a fish in their presence.

Video upload is only 720.

Freediving only in this video. No Tanks.

  • Any tips for a beginner spear fisherman using a Hawaiian sling???

  • @harb1712 slow calm movements so you don't spook the fish. I dive heavy for that reason...so I can drop in. Know you prey and their behaviors...use that behavior to get as close as you can before taking the shot...some fish are curious, some bottom scratching draws others in. ....focus your attention on the part of the fish you want to hit...spine, behind gill plate, or in head. The old saying ...fishin is different than catching...the kill is the least important part of the day out there.

  • oh i live in wrong country, sweet vid, watch it every few weeks

  • @Warbeast911 Yeah...I hear ya...I live in the mountains so I need to watch the underwater videos from time to time. Used to sit on the couch and hold my breath while watching.

  • i would like to try a hawaiian sling but the vis in trinidad in not all that great at times and i'd probably lose the shaft. dreat vid, keep up the good work... dive safe

  • @trinifishstix you might be ok in low vis..just don't take any long shots and line up so you know where the shaft might go. Glad you liked the vid.

  • @ freedive101 thank you for answering my question. Great video I watch it all the time

  • @freedive101 this is an amazing video.

  • @b1marks haha thats classic. just remember to come up for air and do recovery breaths.

  • @Freedive101 heavy vs light. thats always an interesting one. why do you perfer to be heavy vs light while freediving? i am the opposite, i would much rather have a hard time getting down compared to comming up, especially when im low on oxygen. and all the noobs out there, start off light then work your way heavy, safest way to go. great videos btw
