  • Arrau is supreme in this music.

  • I won't be so decisive as that, but whether he is, the playing of the giocoso section near the end is almost unbelievable. :)

  • a different conception is popular now (despite composer's markings), but from the point of view of virtuosity, probably, this recording will not be bettered

Merci d'avance... didilevolcan

  • In Arrau's interpretation, one can hear the Lisztian influence more clearly. Usually, Spanish pianists play this in a more romantic-impressionist, more Chopinesque, more "French" manner. Not only Larrocha, but Iturbi, Del Pueyo and Soriano, as well.

  • I think it's way to fast

  • Different from de Larrocha and simply wonderful both... Arrau is very personal, I love his interpetation... so musical! Two real geniuses of the piano...

  • this version is quicker than Alicia de Larrocha yes, but I think that this way you can interpretate the music in a different way.

The emotions Arrau gives to this piece are very intense. I like as much as Al. de Larrocha!

  • This is incredible, yes Alicie de Larrocha may have more of a Spanish accent but Arrau grew up hearing plenty of Spnish music too. He said in an interveiw that the Albinez salon pieces were very popular in Chile. I love De Larrocha but this makes more sense to me musically.
