'SWINE FLU FEVER BLUES' is from Jackie Leven & Michael Cosgrave s' new album 'Wayside Shrines and the Code of the Travelling Man.'(Cooking Vinyl 2011).
The poem 'Nothing Gold can Stay' by Robert Frost (1923) might run alongside this beautiful song.....it may be a story about how the youthful flecks of colour and panic jump out onto that sturdy old green path of suffering to mean new things....
Heres the poem:

'Nothing Gold can Stay' by Robert Frost (1923)

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

JACKIE LEVEN ADDS - This is a Hardy poem that I did not know before, but it has already flowed naturally into my own living landscape, near where the River Leven flows. All my respect goes to the artist Tina Lang here, and the dark confiding space she finds in both the poem and the song.
