As controversy swirls around the trial of Tymoshenko and her 7 year sentence, this background report offers a unique insight into the spectacular rise and fall of the former Ukrainian prime minister.

In 2001, business tycoon Yulia Tymoshenko found herself in jail, charged with corruption. It was an experience that would change her life. "She became a woman with a purpose; to become president". Taking on the old Soviet system, Tymoshenko was seen as a beacon for change. Yet she has never been far from the corruption she professed to oppose. Back in the dock, has the revolutionary leader done more harm than good for the Ukraine?

  • @Blacktolite ,

No,it's got nothing to do with the nationality of of the reporter.I hadn't seen that someone else had already pointed out that JourneyManPictures is an Australian tv company.I am British, but I don't wish to be accused of bias, lol.Yes,we have some sterling documentary makers in Britain. As to whether they are the 'best',well I can't say.I'm sure other countries feel exactly the same way about their documentary makers.

  • @popazz1 oh is it how about the reporter is he not English if not then you do believe the British are the best in documentaries right :)
