Sophie the Guinea Pig om nom noms

Sophie likes lettuce. Om nom nom. Sophie wants more so she chews on the cage. But the cage is not lettuce. :(

There is also a cat. Surprise!

Guinea pigs use the bars on the cage to grind down their teeth. Get her a few blocks of wood or a salt lick to chew on. But if sound bothers you don't get blocks that have a bell attached. She will always do this to maintain her health. It's good, don't scold her, try to supply her with alternatives.

But aside of this, the guinea pig is beautiful. Well groomed fur, nice clear eyes, and she seems very calm around the cat. :)

Salt lick can cause bladder stones, plus it's not necessary for them. Better with wood or something.

(And of course a bigger cage for her and a Friend!)

@Mallenaudrix please don't get a salt lick. They're actually not good for guinea pigs. Wood blocks, though, are great. So are branches from apple trees and the like.

(also, i hope that wasn't iceburg lettuce. They can have it, but it's just water and too much will give them a tummie ache. Romaine or other dark green leafie vedge is packed with good stuff and they'll love it just as much. ^_^ )

I always thought the sound they made while chewing was hilarious. I had a total of five guinea pigs, as well as a cat.

The guinea pigs always ran after the cat. She'd book it whenever she saw one of the pigs coming after her, lol

@Mallenaudrix - +1 re everything you said. (let her chew, get more stuff to chew, otherwise looks like a happy healthy guinea pig, and nice to see her relaxed around the cat)

She's very cute; I love how she's inquisitive and snuffles toward the camera. IIRC guinea pigs are a little more inquisitive than smaller rodents (I could be wrong).
