Love how when its the police doing this its a waste of taxpayers dollars and going to dunkin donuts comments. I bet you if this was the fire department people would be like wow nice trucks wow their awesome. It really bothers me in todays society that noone gives the men and women of law enforcement the respect they deserve. They drill for a reason to keep the public safe.

It's a surge drill, to practice getting large amounts of police to a major disaster.

- to prevent accidents with another police vehicle going to a different emergency. If both vehicles go with sirens on constantly, one may not hear the other vehicle at an intersection. It may sound retarded, but it works. NYPD has 'thousands' of police cars- many going to different emergencies at any given time from different precincts and frequencies - Not like a small police department where the chances of colliding with another police car is rare. Hope this explains why.

They usually send more cups rather than not enough and call for back up. things might be too late.

1 phone call 911 for emergency, they might send 2 to 3 units minimum and an undercover unit, if near by has one. (own experienced)
