Hubbard never knew Crowley personally, mispronounces his name, and mistakes a pseudonym for the name of a book.. go figure.

He did meet Crowley and attempted to join up with Crowley's group at the time. Crowley found Hubbard to be abrasive and somewhat petty and basically told him to get lost....Dianetics uses many of the same meditation and visualization techniques used my pagans for thousands of years....that Hubbard uses a meeting with Crowley to insinuate more is no real surprise either.

Scientology is chock-a-block full of OTO stuff. The whole 'Bridge' idea is taken directly from Thelema & Reworded for marketing purposes. The 'Grades ' are initiatory formulae. I know I was raised in one & now, ironically, I'm getting initiated in the other.

    "Crowley, my very good friend."

Actually, Hubbard was only friendly with Jack Parsons, a NASA scientist and Crowley devotee. Crowley was actually a bit worried about Hubbard, and wrote to Parsons about him.

Old Uncle Al wasn't far wrong, either, because Hubbard wound up stealing a girlfriend and a boat from Parsons. Hubbard later used a lot of Crowley's ideas to form his own religion to make money. I guess he was successful, because the rest is history. Very very something or other.

Anyone interested in L Ron Hubbard and Scientology or Dianetics should check out the book::: L RON HUBBARD, MESSIAH OR MADMAN written by his own son. Some extremely disturbing shit.

Not "he attempted", but DID join the OTO under Jack Parsons in Pasadena, California, but he stole the secret rituals of the OTO, took off with Parsons wife and also stole all the money in a TRI-PARTITE trust fund that Parson, Hubbard and Parsons wife had combined together. Hubbard claimed that he was undercover working for Navel Intel to "break the group up", but Parsons invoked BARTZABEL, the Spirit of Mars, and the sails of the schooner were ripped off the boat, forcing Hubbard to land.
