As of January 2009...
overclocked phenom ii 940 @6.5GHz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wB0JodKgZ0A
(a new record is set)

FOR THOSE interested in Over Clocking your CPU a few tips...
(2 Great websites : http://www.overclock.net | http://www.overclockers.com )
1] make sure the heat sink/fan you have is more than adequate for your processor, the more expensive it is DOES NOT mean it's better, read reviews and feedback from people that have bought the heat sink you're looking to get.
checkout : http://www.newegg.com | http://www.tigerdirect.com | http://www.microcenter.com for great prices, reviews and comments

2] there are various programs out there for over clocking your CPU, but i really don't recommend them, maybe for testing the clocks you want, BIOS overclocking is really where you want to go...
While AMD and Intel both make great overclocking programs, i've found that that can actually make it harder for you if you overclocked the system too much,

At one point I had to quickly kill the AMD overclocker's process at startup or it would auto restart my system everytime... ANNOYING!!!

I've had friends say the same thing about Intel OC programs.

3] before you do any overclocking, DO YOUR Research, and slowly overclock your system from there.

4] stress test/benchmark your system at every clock change; if the computer restarts, the system is not stable, go back try again, maybe a smaller change will be more stable.

Once again check out http://www.overclock.net & http://www.overclockers.com

Original info:
i overclocked my cpu to 3.27GHz from 3.0, think i can do it some more, but since this video i got rid of vista and returned to xp, soon to test windows 7, it will be installed on a separate hdd for this purpose.

i used amd over drive to overclock the cpu, and test the stability, from what i understand you can overclock it to 3.4, but not much else. i also just installed a Cooler Master CPU "eclipse" cooler/heatsink before i overclock the cpu again, as it was running hotter than i'd like when it was in vista

  • what program did you use to OC without BIOS?

  • @AeroFix94 AMD Overdrive

  • @elektros75 yeah i know! but when i was trying to! its says AMD Overdrive cant find the AMD 7 chipset something like that! :S

  • @AeroFix94 um... i can't help you there then, i downloaded the file from amd's website, try checking to see what your computer recognizes your chipset to be or going on amd's forums with this issue, i'd say that's your best bet as amd's technical staff checks those, as well as other more experienced techs and users do :)

  • I have mine overclocked to 3.3 ghz even.

  • rock on

  • I oc'ed my 4200+ X2 2.2GHz to a STABLE 2.9GHz.

Thats a 0.7 GHz increase. I can also overclock it further to 3.0 but I can't go any higher than that.

    Also, I have regular aircooling.

  • Hi, why can not start Overdrive? the Software says thay can't start

  • @AeroFix94 I think ur motherboard doesn't use an AMD chipset.. do it use VIA or Nvidia chipset? if so AMD overdrive may not support those

  • @VlogMaster100 i cant OC to 3.2Ghz =/ only 3.1

  • @AeroFix94 If it dont work just leav it on 3.2 if it runs stable

  • @VlogMaster100 i cant overclock! i get bluescreen anyway! and i turn up the voltages! =/ does i need better PSU?

  • @AeroFix94 Yes. But if your playing watch the temps.

  • @VlogMaster100 shure???? thanks anyway! i looking at the core temp! and i get now like

    Core #0 28C Low: 26C High: 36C Load: 3%

Core #1 36C Low: 34C High: 41C Load 6% with 3.1Ghz OC! :) is that good to OC and change voltage to 1.350V? and OC to 3.3Ghz?

  • @AeroFix94 I think so. Some of the youtuber got over 3.5 so you can do 3.3 ghz

  • @VlogMaster100 so you think i can change the voltage and oc to 3.3Ghz? and do fine? without PC reboot problem?

  • @AeroFix94 I think so but watch the temps ; )
