People are so dumb and uneducated. The train will hurt the corridor and my business. Yes, thats what people really think, "I'm not going to shop there, its by trains tracks that have been there over 120 yerars!" And all those travelers on the trains that will be able to get to Springfield faster, they will just destroy the local economy im sure.
Without grade crossings, one doesn't have mile long trains - as one gentleman told us - 3 hours a day - or just drive straight over. No Horns to tell you of it's arrival - Here, in the UK, the outdated railway runs at 125 miles/hr - not the 79 for Acela High Speed on a curvy line. - freight - going towards a speed of 100 across Europe. No, Not Here - Come to Europe.
In England, most rail tracks are not 'grade crossings' - so you don't have to wait for 3 hours/day for the mile-long trains to pass by. as someone suggested - Instead one drives straight over. No Horn for noise and quieter trains..
In Europe Freight at up to 100 / miles/hr - passenger rail - at 125 basic - not 80 - even higher in most of Europe.
high speed trains are the best u can have! dees americans don't deserve it,they don't know what high speed trains will bring, less traffic, more people on the train, your doing 2h,instead of doing 6/7 h on the road! so yesh high speed trains are better, take it from a guy who lives in europe and knows what it is to have does trains! GO europe :p i can go from belgium to england in less then an hour! but i think ameriaca is just not ready for this bigg step, they have to manny problems now,
The reason things are the way they are is lack of investment in the tracks. The cost of the project? What's the cost of going the way we are now?We can't afford that.Besides most short distance air service will be gone in a few years.Gas this summer will start to go back up as the recession starts to pass. It is possible these are just gas station owners with there friends. How about the trillon dollars in imported oil every year. Spent by a drive and fly society.Plus cost of pollution and wars
Well, there's really nothing Springfield can do about Union Pacific doing anything on their line. That's like telling Walmart that they can't add on to their store on their own property. It doesn't make sense.

Oh for the love of God. It will be on the same tracks, be much quieter than regular trains, and help the local economy.
