I love how you call her "Americas most accomplished gymnast." That's a much more fitting title than "most decorated." She was the most accomplished then, and based on the celebrities we have on the team today, she probably always will be! (Unless figure skating, dancing with the damn stars and making taco commercials count as accomplishments.)

Shannon was the greatest American ever had, but not the greatest in the world. I just finished reading her mom's book. It's really good. Sheds a LOT of light on Shannon and Steve and how she became who she became.

You're kidding right? She won medals on the bars all throughout her career. Just because she didn't medal there for the '96 Olympics doesn't mean she wasn't good.
A lot of people think Shannon's forgettable because she wasn't cutsy and smiling all the time. But she was 100 percent focused and had a brilliant career. NO American has won more medals than her, man or woman.

Ya we have very different opinions...lol I love Shannon and thought she was amazing on bars... thats okay though. everybody has different views.
