I actually play a 7 over the 4 the first time, but that's the point for beginners. You will mess up the first few times and having one part of your body keep track of the beat will give you feed back. I corrected the 7 into a 6 and there I went. It starts to sound better when the beats aren't constant, but I'll post more later on how to build up to 3 and even 4 rhythms at the same time.
I think it is important to be musical when teaching poly's. 6 over 4 is the same as 4 over six mathematically and incrementally but they have different "feels". Poly's are for the purpose of being musical and it also helps the student to listen to what a six over four feels like. This btw feels more like four over six due to the 6/8 feel you have going on the ride. But it sounds more like you are just placing 6 beats to every 4 without care to give it a musicality. Not trying to be rude.
