Oh boy, another misguided liberal. This is a work of the two parties - the democrats are more eager to support the bailout b/c they know they are the guilty party. Much of banking deregulation happened under Clinton and Greenspan pumped easy credit well through 2004. Many warned against Fannie and Freddie's risky expansion and improper accounting since 90s - B Frank and C Dodd are some the most well-paid recipient of lobbyists and fiercest defenders of the broken (corrupt) companies.

Ok, another dumb ass that has to be corrected. De-Regulation started under the republican majority of the congress. And once they got their puppet in the white house they were able to get every other fail safe in the economic system, environmental protection system and even education repealed and in some cases reversed. So if anyone is to blame, as history has shown, republicans destroy everything they touch.
