there is a sophistication and an elegance to cecil's music that is very deep. there's nothing dumb about this music except for the mindless interpretation people tend to foist about it.. of course with no inquiry or curiosity. just a need to lambast others for the sake of it. i have described in detail in other cecil videos his methods and conceptions of music if anyone is interested. be well
More people like you should say these truths on the videos. I do not care that much to opinions that come from people who clearly don´t research and who are worried too much with things they can´t understand/feel, but I feel very impressed with the quantity of music '' critics '' on Internet in general ( Youtube specially ) who give their opinions on things they know nothing about. Keep posting on my videos, thx!
there are priests, who convey social order and whos power and influence is exercised in that domain. then there are mystics.. whose mastery is over the self and are the ones with true vitality and power.. not just a simulation of divine wisdom used for social control. cecil is a mystic. the piano is his altar. this is not a figurative statement. this is alchemy at work. not everyone will understand because it is not for everyone. he has lost nothing and gained everything.
oh and to the below comments, Anything can be music, it is ignorant to say that pop or metal or this type of jazz is not music, andthing that has notes and/ or rythm is music. ANYTHING.
Ive just started recently listening to different kinds of jazz to expand my musical range, and i have to say this is really different, but in a good way. Im definately gonna look more of this stuff up
oh and how are these songs structured? Is it everone playing notes from specific scales or completely random?
