Palm oil is one of the world's most widely produced vegetable oils. Its production leaves behind huge amounts of wastewater and plant refuse. That leads to emissions of the potent greenhouse gas methane - corresponding to the energy yield of 750 millions liters of diesel fuel.

The Federal Agricultural Research Centre in Germany has joined forces with an engineering firm in Bremen and the Indonesian Oil Palm Research Institute to develop what is called "zero-waste" technology. They turn part of the plant waste into compost. The rest is used for environmentally benign energy production. Of some 500 palm oil mills in Malaysia and Indonesia, nine have been equipped with the new technology. More facilities are under construction or in the planning stages. Report by: Hagen Tober

  • AzfarulGiantz, your exactly right. Palm oil has many health benefits and one great American Dr's that has researched the facts on Red Palm oil is Dr. Bruce Fife. Red Palm oil has special Vitamin E tocotrienols, squalene and coq10, and all kinds of carotenoids... but of course, they (the ones that own the soybean oil ) and other companys are trying to destroy the truth about Palm oil because they do not want people waking up and learning the truth.

  • you guys are discriminate to south asian countries.. You are saying this cuz you wanna sell your oil.. such as corn and sunflowers. Palm oil stil have better nutrients !! Thats why you guys come out with this enviromental issues !!

  • Stay a million miles away from anything with palm oil in it. Really BENIGN environmental policy would ban any expansion of this nasty stuff.

  • This is a propaganda video for the palm oil industry. I have seen the devastation first hand.
