(Warning, do not read unless you have read all the books)
The differences between book and movie:
* There is a monkey girl (Rebecca)
* They missed out Han's Hands, Sam, R.V. and Debbie
* Darren meets Steve before book 8
* Vampaneze aren't purple
* They call Lefty Harkat before book 4
* Cormac Limbs is a girl
* Steve captures Rebecca, and Darrens family which does't make sense because Steve is supposed to marry Annie
* They don't go back to Mr. Crepsly's home town, resulting in no sewer scene

The Darren Shan Saga was great with its mix of horror and fiction and there were too many things that couldn't be shown or put into a movie like all the horror elements are a little too graphic for a movie even for a restricted one. You can't really put into a movie all the emotions that Darren felt without a narration movie which aren't the best ones in my opinion. This movie came out when people were getting tired of the vampire madness so that didn't help the movie either. PS Good Review!

I think the people who comment mean things about peoples videos or about people in a video is very mean and wrong! You should back off and let people express themselves! How would you like it if someone did that to you?

Excellent summary, Karen.
I think even you would have a hard time trying to make the Cirque Du Freak series into a good film, don't you think so? I really enjoyed His Dark Materials, but I daren't say I could produce a movie that reflects the books to people in general. Even I wouldn't be completely satisfied with the final product.
I saw Citizen Kane recently, and I really enjoyed it. Way different from Cirque Du Freak, though! : )

Yeah, that's a good point. They did manage to make an awesome manga based on the book, but I guess that doesn't necessarily mean it could be a good movie.

I read the books before i saw the movie (obviously) and i went into the movie thinking it would be completely disasterous, but i was pleasantly surprised. No it wasnt completely the same, yes John C. Riely was an Odd choice for Mr. Crepsley, but I think if you allow youself a gap between wanting the movie to be accurate and wanting the movie to be separate enough that the books are still interesting to read, i think you've found your balance.

That's a good point, but I still think there are things in the book that they could have kept the same, just for the sake of the movie making sense.
