Approach and landing at Flying B Ranch airstrip - PRIVATE (must call/email ahead) - in the Idaho backcountry with my Super Stinson 108-2.

This is a serene place that offers wonderful hospitality, food, and lodging. Hazards including density altitude, and valley / mountain weather. Please proceed with caution and make sure the weather is on your side. They offer a terrific breakfast for those who fly in. If you get a chance to go to the B, take it.

Also, please support the IAF and the RAF, as they aid in keeping these beautiful places open to backcountry pilots.

If you enjoy my clips, please let me know. Thanks
Filmed with a Kodak Playsport (sorry for the bad camera noise).

  • Its a great place to be. I have had the privilege of being able to go there since 200 when I was 7. I have spent basically all my summers up there since then. If you have the chance go to the Root Ranch, it is more of the back country style. That ranch has my families name all over it from all the work we have done. if you go up there now there is a new duplex log cabin that i designed, drafted, and built from foundation to the roof

Very cool Josh, perhaps I'll see you in the ID back country next summer. Sounds like I need to go into Root Ranch while I'm there too.

  • Great video of the B approach. Looked like we had a lot of fly ins that day. Hope you enjoyed it up there. The manager and wranglers are great and love working there. Plus the cooks we have up there are great, especially Linda and Georgia if she was up there around that time

Love the B, can't wait to get back there!

  • Hi. Nice job! Question. What is the Bernard strip used for? Can anyone land there? Is the ranger stationed manned by USFS personal? Thanks.

  • Love that slip. Where the camera is located, it is obvious. I'm jealous! :)
