Here is Day 2, after intalling my bees in their hive. In this video I demonstrate how to check if your Queen bee has been successfully removed by the drones, and how to remove the box your Nuc came in, and what to do with it and the few remaining bees still clinging inside it.

  • Hey bratty girl. There is no set way to beekeep. Plus, it was my first time. You do understand what it's like to be a beginner - no? Plus, my bees thrived, were perfectly healthy, and yielded me 5.5 gallons of the best raw honey I've ever tasted. So take your comment and politely place it where the sun don't shine, how about?

  • It's been an incredible learning experience. Today is Day 47 - - I went out and bought a used hive with 10 frames that have comb built up on them -- and we're going to add the 3rd hive in the next few days. I'm slightly concerned about the "used" status of the frames and hive - will check with my fellow beekeepers to make sure that isn't a risk of incurring foulbrood, or whatnot.

  • Wow, this is a great video - of what not to do when installing packaged bees.

  • if the candy was ate through inti the queen cage then the queen has been released..you should have give the cage a good shake on top of the hive and all the bees would have fell off...then you would have seen if the queen was still in the cage...thanks again for great video...

  • Cool!
