I've been quite annoyed with Apple's quality control for a while. I had this terrible iMac with problem after problem after problem, eventually replaced. I bought this unibody MacBook in early April 2009, and in July it's begun this crap. I see a problematic future :(
my guess is the lcd screen is bad

I'm having the same problem with my macbookpro (late 2007) and the thing is that when I connect my mac with an external monitor (tv) the screen works perfect. So, I'm guessing it's not a graphic card problem but a monitor problem.....

I've got the same problem too. I was holding my macbook by its monitor part and it happened. :(

My MacBook (2007) has the same exact issue... Now, I'm trying to decide what to do: have it fixed, by a new one... Would be really interesting to know if you found out what the problem was, how much it was to fix, what you decided to do etc?

Either bad RAM, Logic board defect, or the graphics card/chipset/etc. is busted. Does it ever crash?
