The New Frontier was imploded Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007. The 65-year-old casino, the second property built on the famous Las Vegas Strip, was the venue where Elvis Presley made his Las Vegas debut in 1956. It also housed entertainers like Siegfried and Roy, and Wayne Newton; was once owned by eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes; and featured one of the longest union strikes in U.S. history.

No implosion hurt as bad as the Stardust. The Frontier had to go badly because of its location. Just like the Tropicana, they could've given the Stardust one more facelift and left it there forever. Now what do you have? A nine story cinderblock, and signs saying DO NOT ENTER, area is condemned.

What am I watching? A firework show or a demolition? I couldn't tell the difference.

While it's definitely a shame to see another casino go, I gotta admit they gave it one helluva sendoff!

Las Vegas likes to do things BIG, even building implosions. What I found funny was how all the noise set off everyone's car alarms. It's like sitting on a bench along Broadway in New York City and hearing the car alarms going off progressively down the street as a subway clatters by below. LOL. Good video! Loved the fireworks.

The Frontier was located in a bad location which didn't run so smoothly and I doubt it had enough money in the bank to give it a minor makeover. It was their only decision. :(

Yay. Old Vegas was great. I hate this "cater to families with theme park bullshit" stuff. In the 70's my aunt had a house a block off the strip at Charleston, I was just a kid but we went there a couple times a year. I live in San Diego, haven't been there since 2000, don't think I'm missing anything.
