@SnickleFritz79 He didn't want to actually. In his will he specifically requested a simple(by Presidential standards) funeral. And his family honoured that.

@howardm74 I agree. President Ford came into office under strenuous circumstances and managed to keep the Ship of State sailing forward. Despite these difficulties, which made the election of any Republican unlikely in 1976, Ford managed to fend off a strong challenge for the GOP nomination (Reagan) and nearly defeated the sanctimonious Saint Jimmy Carter in the general election. America would have been a lot better off with Gerald Ford still in the White House from 1977-81. RIP Mr. President.

President Ford was a very good man. I visited his gravesite in March of 2007 a few months after watching his funeral service on tv. It was sad. U rock Jerry! I adore your wife. She's pretty awesome to. God bless you and God bless America

@daprez45 Yes he was! He was the Great Healer! I hope 20 years we can look back at other presidents and say they did the right thing like president Ford.
